    Description
    This position will operate out of the Keele Campus until May (subject to change), before permanently relocating to the Markham Campus.

    Purpose:

    The Critical Making and Makerspace Coordinator role assists the Manager of Digital Scholarship and Computing Services (DSCS) in a dual technical/coordination support position.

    The role coordinates the day-to-day administrative activities of makerspace and critical making services in the library at the Markham Campus as well as providing technical support to lab users by providing users instructions, facilitating access to spaces and equipment, and carrying out inventory and basic maintenance and repair to equipment.

    The role ensures technology and software offerings are operational and ready for use daily, respond to in person and online inquiries professionally and promptly, and conducts training, arranges scheduling, and coordinates workflows for YUSA and casual role supports research and learning in makerspace technologies, provides instruction and workshops for users, and collaborates with instructors to support course objectives.

    Education:

    Experience:

    Two years related makerspace experience and/or training with makerspace technologies as well as coordinating the work of others.

    Experience with operating and maintaining a variety of equipment to include, but not limited to, 3D printers, CNC routers, laser cutters, pick and place machinery and other product development machinery.

    • Demonstrated ability using Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling/creation tools (SolidWorks, Autodesk apps, Blender, Revit, CAM software), 3D scanning, photography, sewing machines and weaving, CNC machines, the Internet of Things.
    • Knowledge of 3D prototyping techniques, vinyl printing, wearable computing methods,
    • Knowledge of common makerspace 'building block' technologies, such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or equivalent.
    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, perform repairs on a wide variety of makerspace equipment.
