Inspector, Capital Projects
The incumbent is responsible for conducting design review, inspections and providing contract
administration including review of quantities for payment certificates related to the City's capital works
projects.
Successful applicants will possess the following:
- Successful completion of a University degree or Community College Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Member in good standing of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and
- Four years of progressively more responsible experience in all phases of municipal and
- Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports on all aspects of capital works projects.
- Demonstrable applied knowledge of materials testing procedures and techniques and the
- Current knowledge of techniques in such fields as lot grading, drainage practices, surveying, and

- Proven ability to provide direction, leadership, and technical guidance for the inspection of capital

- Ability to work independently and under mínimal supervision.
- Above average communication skills including ability to express thoughts clearly and concisely
- Welldeveloped decision making, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and maintain effective business relationships, and to deal
- Certified in the Corporation's Confined Space Entry Procedure, Standard First Aid and Basic
- Rescuer CPR-C, and Working at Heights/Fall Arrest (or obtain within six months)
- Must possess a valid Class "G" Ontario Driver's Licence, and provide consent to conduct ongoing
use in the performance of duties. A clean driving record is preferred.
- Current knowledge of the Construction Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act and related matters.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and Windows based computer
- Must be prepared to work after hours and weekends as required.
- Must be medically and physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
- Must be prepared to undergo a Criminal Reference Check as a condition of employment.
