Horizon Retirement Management is a private seniors' residence (RPA) manager with 8 residences in the greater Montreal area and in Ottawa.

Join our more than 500 dedicated employees who provide our residents with a client experience focused on well-being.

Duties:

Assist cook with food preparation as needed.
Performs service cleanup and dishwashing as required.
Know and practice the residence's fire and safety programs.
Serve food to residents in accordance with special dietary restrictions, resident preferences and department procedures.
Clear tables, load and operate the dishwasher safely. Performs manual dishwashing as required.
Adhere to established policies and procedures.

Physical Demands:

Stand for long periods at food preparation tables up to 10 hours per day.
Walk short distances and maneuver in tight spaces in the kitchen and dining room.
Pull/push/lift dish baskets, food carts, bulk items, etc. up to 50 pounds.
Reach and lift food items and kitchen tools to and from upper shelves up to 10 pounds sometimes using an 18 inch to 3 foot step stool.
Ability to perform repetitive arm movements for periods of up to 1 hour to peel, chop and prepare food.
Work in hot temperatures for extended periods of time.
Memory work required to know dining room layout, table and section numbers and residents.
Dexterity required to open caps, pull triggers on sprayers, open condiment packages, etc.

Qualifications:

Completion of a recognized food handler training program, such as NSTP.
Food service experience required.
Knowledge of HACCP, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety and Sanitation Code.
Willingness and ability to learn.
Ability to lift heavy objects, stand and walk short distances throughout the day and tolerate the heat of the kitchen.
