Position Summary


Administrative Coordinator, Patient Flow:


As the Administrative Coordinator, you will be responsible for the overall operation of patient care services after regular business hours.

You will provide ongoing support to front line staff, nursing units and all Hospital services to facilitate quality patient care.

You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You also have excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills. You are well organized and have effective time management skills. You are able to work independently and function effectively in a constantly changing work environment.

This position supports the Hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation.

This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families
On a practical level, you will

Facilitate optimal bed utilization and patient flow and assist units with staffing resource coordination

Promote excellence in patient care and service delivery and identifies potential risk issues to the appropriate department head/Clinical Team Manager

As the senior administrative person onsite, deal with unresolved patient/family concerns, media inquires, etc.

Identify problems within the organization and assist in the development of strategies to resolve such problems

Utilize appropriate resources to ensure quality care and placement of patients

Collaborate with Clinical Team Manager on-call to ensure appropriate response to internal (i.e., codes) and external (i.e., medial inquires/public relations) events

Respond to Hospital codes, i.e., code blue, pink, white, etc.


Qualifications:

Registered Nurse with B.Sc.
N. or related undergraduate degree preferred

Current B.C.L.S. Certification

Five (5) years direct patient care experience; emergency and/or critical care experience an asset

Two (2) years progressive administrative experience (team leader, charge nurse) in a nursing setting, preferred

Knowledge of relevant legislation and collective agreements

Bilingualism in French/English an asset

This is a Part -Time Temporary Position of 6 months with 8 hour shifts, days, evenings, nights and weekends in the Patient Flow Department.
