Maintenance Manager
Beretta Farms Ltd./Canadian Premium Meats is looking for the right hands to maintain our processing facility in Lacombe, AB. The Maintenance manager is to lead the initiatives of corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance.

To ensure that all the company assets are readily available and deliver quality results in an economically, productive, reliable, and safe fashion.

As well as to assist in the design, selection, installation and commissioning of new equipment and processes.


Responsibilities:


Operations:

  • Improve and maintain existing preventative maintenance systems establishes the performance of the maintenance activities, communicate effectively across functions and provide visibility to the maintenance functions to upper management by utilizing accurate report with proper associated metrics.
  • Acting as the technical resource to address and resolve any maintenance related inquiries and problems.
  • Responsible for budgeting, cost control, maintenance related operational efficiency, cost optimization.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of all utilities (Refrigeration, Wastewater Treatment, Cooling Tower, Air Compressors, HVAC, etc.) within the facility.
  • May be required to do other work within his/her capacity under the director of the plant management team.

People Leadership:

  • Develops/supervises and provides coaching to maintenance technicians.
  • Leads and holds team accountable to execute against long term strategies and for meeting operational goals in accordance with plant objectives.
  • Responsible for developing strong leaders and a more diverse workforce; incorporates diversity in succession planning and inclusion into team culture.
  • Holds direct reports accountable for actively addressing engagement issues and identifies/leverages best practices in engagement.

Health & Food Safety/Risk Management:

  • Review and effect any necessary actions regarding the following Food Safety and Quality documents.
  • Manage: work orders, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and temporary repairs
  • Participate in monthly plant and equipment inspections.
  • Ensure that new equipment or modified existing equipment is included in the maintenance program.
  • Corrective Actions Requests for maintenance: internal audits, CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency), third party audits
  • Monitor, support, and maintain the Quality, Food Safety and SQF systems.
  • Food Safety & Quality responsibility as outlined in SOPs (standard operating procedures) and other training materials provided.
  • Review and enforce the GMPs with their employees.
  • Participate or provide support to HACCP team.
  • Coordinate with all outside contractors and ensure that work is completed in a safe manner that complies with all necessary manufacturing codes, regulations, and standards i.e., H&SE, GMPs, HACCP, WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information System), MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet).

Education - Educational background in mechanical or engineering technology (diploma or degree), coupled with a Millwright and/or Electrician license (or equivalent) is considered an asset.


Experience and Qualifications - Minimum of five (5) years' experience leading a team in a related position within the food/ beverage industry - Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills - Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including PLC programming and preventative maintenance computerized programs - Progressive approach to maintenance and process improvement driven - Computer skills - experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) - Ability to prioritize, plan and schedule work effectively with a production team in a fast paced and values driven environment


Salary:
$85,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
