- Orientate patient to the treatment area, including relevant policies;
- Supervising/instructing/assisting with patient programs as prescribed by a physiotherapist, which may include: application of selected therapeutic exercises, functional mobility, use of aids & devices, and appropriate modalities;
- Organizing and delivering group or individual activities as prescribed by a physiotherapist;
- Demonstrate awareness of safety issues related to patient, staff and caregivers;
- Maintain exercise equipment and prepare treatment areas for patient use;
- Maintain an inventory of equipment, adaptive aids, wheelchairs, and supplies;
- Identify equipment that needs maintenance, repair, or replacement;
- Monitor treatment program and report observations related to assigned activities to the physiotherapist, including patient comments, responses to intervention, and status during application of the intervention, etc.;
- Participate as a team member in patient care;
- Demonstrate effective communication with the patient and their family and other health team members;
- Document on electronic health record and paper record as appropriate;
- Maintain daily workload measurement statistics;
- Perform other related duties.
- Successful completion of Grade 12 supplemented with successful completion of a Physiotherapy Assistant Program or a Rehabilitation Assistant Program;
- Capable of sustained physical activity;
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
- Possess good interpersonal and communication skills and good organizational skills;
- Have a good previous work and attendance record.
- Previous experience working with inpatients in a hospital setting or as a direct caregiver would be an asset.
