Stuart Olson is searching for 4th or 5th class Power Engineers to work on a turnaround in the Red Deer Area.
Responsibilities
- Know, understand, and follow applicable our client's JSWP's and corporate procedures.
- Know, understand, and follow SOP for tank farm operations.
- Commission activities for the turnaround tank farm, including leak testing and oxygen free.
- Meeting requirements as directed on the training matrix.
- Know, understand, fill out and submit tank farm tracking sheets. Ensuring tank levels are accurately and closely monitored.
- Checking that level indication on tanks are reading correctly and not hung up prior to taking readings.
- Taking of timely samples and correctly filling out analysis sheet. Delivering of samples to the site lab.
- Ensuring vac truck operators have vac truck transfer forms have been filled out and understanding what tanks the loads need to be put into. Obtaining clarification from environment and waste management technician if ensure.
- Successful completion of the client's provided courses as directed.
- Pulling and adhering to safe work or continuous permits.
- Working with the designated client operations to execute planned tasks where tanks farms are connected to the client's equipment.
- Report near hits, incidents, spills, and environmental incidents to the Unit Operations Leader.
- Initiate containment protocol for spills and leaks
- Use the authority to stop work if an unsafe condition occurs.
- Assist with shift Safety Observations to trend safety in the area.
- Assists with incident investigations as required by client.
- Decommission activities for the turnaround tank farm, including final waste removal, and assisting vendor equipment removal.
- Ability to read P&ID's.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work 6×12 hour day or night shifts.
- Able to work extended periods of time in a fullface respirator if required by conditions.
Qualifications
- 4th or 5th class Power Engineer
- Valid driver's license
- CSTS 2020
- Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing

- ESC/OSSA Fall Protection
Working Conditions
- Working in and around noise and dust
- Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
- Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steeltoed safety boots,
Physical Requirements
- Stand or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 25kg
- Climbing stairs/ladders regularly
- Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools
