    HYBRID ROLE IN OTTAWA, ON

    We are looking for a stellar front end Software Developer to join our team. We create outstanding user interfaces and user experiences for our customers. Our customers include large multi-national network providers, and the large content providers that use those networks. From admin tools to end-user facing configuration and troubleshooting, our UI projects provide rich challenges and rewarding solutions on an industry-leading UI stack.

    The role / What you will do at Ciena:

    · Design and build efficient, re-usable UI components to support complex user workflows.

    · Develop in JavaScript/TypeScript/HTML/CSS using a web application framework

    · Estimate, plan and deliver tasks on time and with quality

    · Ensure code maintainability and best coding practices by participating in code reviews and following established standards for coding, accessibility, and cross-browser functionality.

    · Work with stakeholders to understand the problems and validate proposed solutions

    · Collaborate with UX designers to implement useable, enjoyable, and accessible user interfaces

    · Actively participate in maintaining production code over time through improvements and bug fixes

    · Be a part of all development phases – plan, design, implement, review, test, deploy and support

    Required Skills

    · Strong JavaScript/Typescript skills including solid understanding of asynchronous programming

    · Experience with any JavaScript framework

    · Experience with advanced HTML/CSS

    · Experience with continuous integration, mocking and deployment

    · Strong testing and quality assurance background

    · Detail oriented with strong analytical skills

    · Strong verbal communication skills for multi-site collaboration

    Desired Skills:

    · Optical Networking knowledge

    · Docker or other virtualized container services

    · Agile development process

    Required Experience

    Minimum B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field

    3+ years' industry experience
