Job Summary
Dalhousie University is seeking an Assistant Vice-President, Development (AVP) with the Office of Advancement.

This is an opportunity to join Dalhousie at an exciting time leading up to the launch of the university's largest ever comprehensive fundraising campaign.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Advancement, the AVP is a key member of the Advancement Leadership Team and is responsible for maximizing philanthropic revenue generation in support of Dalhousie's mission, vision, and values.

The AVP leads a team of over 50 professionals who are responsible for raising funds through principal ($1 million+), major ($50,000+) and legacy giving programs as well as the prospect research, prospect management, and donor relations teams that directly support those efforts.


Key Responsibilities

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of institutional strategy to attract additional external philanthropic investment to Dalhousie.
  • Playing a lead role in planning and execution of Dalhousie's comprehensive fundraising campaign.
  • Developing collaborative partnerships with senior leadership and Deans in 13 Faculties across the university to identify fundraising priorities and ensure effective implementation of fundraising programs.
  • Maintaining a portfolio of prospect and active donors primarily with a principal level capacity.
  • Leading and enhancing performance management practices for fundraising including quality control, continuous improvement, and performance evaluation.

Note

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Dalhousie's vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination.

However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.


Required Qualifications

Assets
