    Requisition Summary:



    The Chef or Head Cook is responsible for all operations of the kitchen including but not limited to menu planning, meal preparations, presentation of all guest meals. Meals may be as simple as continental buffet breakfast, picnic lunches to-go, or as elaborate as a 3 course elegant dinner. Local seafood is heavily featured at the Lodge. The Chef or Head Cook will also ensure that healthy meals and snacks are available for the 5 Lodge staff. The Chef or Head Cook will work closely with the Hostess/Server throughout the meal service including cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas and work with Lodge Manager when provisioning/ordering food to stay within budget.

    The Lodge is off-grid and remotely located based in Big Bay, BC. Accommodation on-site is available to all staff while on-shift, and transportation is provided to and from Campbell River for days off. This is full-time, seasonal role for a 5-month period. The expected start date is April 15th, 2024 and end date September 15, 2024.



    Job duties and responsibilities:

    • Meal Planning, preparation, presentation to guests
    • Kitchen operations: Organizing, inventory and cleaning of all kitchen and storage areas.
    • Provide healthy snacks and meals for 5 other staff members.
    • Assist with ordering and provisioning.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Ability to work 10-hour shifts Monday - Friday required
    • Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed required
    • high school diploma required
    • At least 5 years of experience of relevant experience as chef and sous chef preferred
    • At least 10 years of cooking experience preferred at safe level 2 preferred
    • culinary certificate preferred
