Sphere Recruitment Solutions is hiring a Process Engineer with a background in heavy industrial, chemical processing, or the oil & gas industry.

Reporting to the Process Engineering Supervisor you will play a crucial role in developing projects, primarily process design, justification, and the evaluation of EHS risks to support the continued safe operation of the plant.

You will have a direct impact on the efficiency, production rates & profitability of the plants and site acting as a gatekeeper for all new ideas to improve the plants ensuring the company only invests in the best opportunities

Responsibilities

• plant monitoring and identifying and troubleshooting operational problems in close association with the production department
• providing day-to-day technical support to various departments and administrative oversight to front-end engineering design for MOCs
• suggest recommendations to improve plant performance or maintain operational targets
• responsible for the planning, organizing, cost control, and implementation of approved projects; including, purchasing new equipment, replacing equipment already in use on-site, modifications or additions to existing equipment, and implementing changes through the MOC system
• perform engineering calculations to complete the process design for approved project ideas
• participate in plant turnarounds by making recommendations for required equipment maintenance, supervising specific jobs, and performing equipment inspections
• support approved projects as an engineering resource, through detailed design, construction, and commissioning phase
• act as designated site contact for outside contractors working on our plant site following all requirements as specified in their Contractor Management Program

Requirements & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field of Engineering, Chemical or Mechanical preferred
• registered with APEGA as an EIT or P.Eng
• previous experience in a heavy industrial, chemical processing, or oil & gas environment as a Process Engineer
• strong interest in determining the causes of errors or malfunctions and taking the appropriate corrective action
• identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
• ability to empower others through active listening, collaboration, training, education, and technical advice
