Overview:

Fountain Tire is looking for an experienced
Credit Associate to join the Credit team in our South Edmonton Corporate Head Office. This will be a term contract expected to end 18 months upon start with a possible extension.

Job Duties:


  • Ensure the past due balances on the CFA accounts are collected by calling accounts with balances at 15 days past due and ensuring that 120+ does not exceed in excess of 1⁄2 of 1%.
  • Impose temporary suspension of credit privileges and advising all impacted parties as necessary.
  • Monitor payments and reinstate credit privileges after accounts are current and advise all impacted parties.
  • Prepare documentation for assignments to 3rd party.
  • Assign customer account collection to Collection Associate as required.
  • Respond to enquiries from third party collectors and reconcile 3rd party payments.
  • Respond to weekly or monthly needs of special handling customers.
  • Prepare batch and spreadsheet summary.
  • Respond to requests for trade references.
  • Collect closed CFA accounts.
  • Enter notes in system to create and maintain an ongoing record of collection activity.
  • Provide missing invoices copies with customer as required.
  • Liaise with external customers and stores on disputed balances for nonpayment of invoices for services.
  • Provide backup for Credit Analyst by running new accounts credit reports and requests for higher credit limits.
  • Assist other team members as required.
  • Participate in all safety initiatives, as required or assigned, to guarantee Safety at Fountain Tire.
  • Assist in the development and attainment of the terms of the department's service level agreement.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives and company STI's.
  • Keep abreast of industry best practices that may impact corporate policies and procedures.

The necessary experience, knowledge, skills and abilities required in the role:

  • High School Diploma required; Secondary school courses in Accounting, Business and/or Administration and 3-4 years related experience preferred; a combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Working knowledge of credit best practices
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) software
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers; includes excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills as well as a "do it right the first time" approach.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in order to effectively manage multiple priorities and competing demands within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work within a team environment as well as individually
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Initiative in recognizing opportunities for improvement and efficiency
