Position summary
Dr.

Ferri's lab within the McGill Division of Thoracic Surgery is an international leader in oncology and surgery research and seeks an energetic and driven Research Associate to further investigate specific key aspects of esophageal and gastric cancer modelling and characterization in collaboration with other members of the research group.


General Duties

ROLE:

  • Design and analyze result of assays from various modes of sample characterization, including image analysis of multichannel immunofluorescence assays,
  • Direct interactions with a large group of collaborators whose research involves the same samples and overall goals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will be involved in several projects.

  • Perform tissue culture for own experiments,
  • Conduct other experimental procedures as required,
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments and results,
  • Conduct statistical analysis,
  • Provide mentorship support to graduate students in the same laboratory,
  • Conduct shared research with collaborators,
  • Present data at local and international meetings,

Education / Experience

Education:
Post doctoral Studies

Field of Study:
Biology, Experimental Medicine, Immunology or related field.

Work Experience: 5 or more years of post-doctoral fellowship experience


Required Skills:


  • Excellent French and English, spoken and written,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,

  • Detailoriented and able to multitask,
  • Experience working in cell culture, preferably with primary cell lines and human tissue,
  • Ability to troubleshoot procedures and protocols,
  • Ability to work with clinicians and basic scientists.

Additional information

Status:
Temporary, full time


Pay Scale:
$54, $100,882.60 Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift:
Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm


Work Site:
Montreal General Hospital
