Bright Lights For Africa is a Canadian registered charity and non-governmental organization, whose vision is to empower marginalized and vulnerable individuals through acts of love, compassion, and generosity, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

We serve both local and international communities and focus on tackling root causes of poverty to create sustainable and lasting change in the lives of those we serve.

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Community Care Ambassadors.

In this volunteer position, you will play a crucial role in our outreach and food program, helping us deliver essential grocery items to seniors and individuals facing food insecurity in our community.

The Community Care Ambassador position involves three primary responsibilities:
grocery shopping, food packaging, and food delivery.

This volunteer opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need while contributing to a more caring and inclusive community.

Grocery Shopping:

• Use provided shopping lists to purchase groceries for identified individuals or families.
• Ensure that selected items align with dietary restrictions and preferences.
• Follow budget guidelines and submit receipts for reimbursement.

Food Hamper Packaging:

• Pack grocery items into care packages with attention to detail and care.
• Organize and label packages for efficient delivery.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a streamlined packaging process.

Food Hamper Delivery:

• Deliver care packages to the homes of seniors and individuals facing food insecurity.
• Adhere to a predetermined schedule and provide timely delivery services.
• Interact with recipients respectfully and maintain a compassionate and supportive demeanor.

The following 3 shifts are available to volunteers:

• 7am to 10 am
• Grocery shopping
• 10am to 12pm Food hampers packaging
• 12pm to 3pm Food hampers delivery

Note:
Volunteers can choose the shift that aligns with their availability and preferences. Volunteers will be reimbursed for kilometers driven during food delivery.


Qualifications:

• Compassionate and empathetic individuals committed to making a positive impact in the community.
• Reliable and punctual with excellent time management skills.
• Ability to follow guidelines and work collaboratively in a team setting.
• Access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license for food delivery.
• Good physical stamina for tasks such as lifting and carrying groceries.
