SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:


Reporting to the Manager, the Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the operation of a range of structured support environments within a legislative and policy framework including procedure development, daily operations, and monitoring and evaluating performance of staff to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services.


The Supervisor is responsible for creating a culture that promotes accountability, respect, safety and continuous improvement ensuring the delivery of high quality support and services in keeping with the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Guiding Principles.

The Supervisor will lead teams of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to implement evidence based practices based on a person-centered philosophy.

They will promote services that are person-centered, timely, effective and efficient.

The Supervisor encourages ongoing performance development of all team members, enabling them to fully utilize the available internal and external resources in the delivery of support and services.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Post secondary education gained through Community College Diploma or University Degree with specialization in Human Services or related field of study.
years progressive experience within the Developmental Services or related sector.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid certificate in First-Aid, Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Safe Management are required.
  • Valid Class "G" driver's licence, one million dollar automobile liability insurance and a reliable vehicle for use at work are required.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check required.
  • American Sign Language proficiency considered an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Practical experience of the biopsychosocial and positive behavioural approaches, deaf/blind intervention services, supports to those who are aging and/or may require home healthcare assistance.
  • Appreciation for complexities of delivering supports and services and an openness and capacity to facilitate choice and opportunities for people supported.
  • Clear understanding and strict adherence to ethical standards and best professional practice.
  • Well developed supervisory skills that demonstrate leadership, goal setting and a focus on continuous learning and education.
  • Exceptional written/oral communication and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to understand and model a consultative approach when responding to people, families and staff.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, creative problem solving and sound crisis management techniques incorporating effective collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks, be detail oriented, be well organized and self motivated.
  • Able to safely conduct physical manoeuvres and be prepared for work that is physically demanding in nature at times, including but not limited to lifting, bending and twisting.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Ministry quality assurance measures and accreditation standards.
  • Ability to support and meet people in a timely manner at various locations, in a timely manner throughout Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.
  • Willing and able to travel within and outside Ontario

Salary:
$25.00-$39.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
