About The Metal Assembler
MAD Elevator Inc


Ottawa division:

ECR Elevator Cab Renovations designs, manufactures and installs elevator cab interiors and is seeking a Metal Assembler to join the team.


As a Metal Assembler, you must be able to read and interpret drawings and schematics and use the correct tools and machine to do the metalwork including spot welding, while making sure the tools and machines are in good working condition.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Identify the correct types of metal for the work assigned
  • Correctly select and operate the machinery and tools as required
  • Maintain the machinery, tools, and workstation in a good working condition
  • Ensure that products meet the standards and project specifications, making adjustments as necessary
  • Operate spot welding machine in a safe manner
  • Must follow all the safety protocols while working
  • Troubleshoot the non-working machinery when necessary
  • Work onsite to assist with installation, sometimes out of town (on occasion)
  • Identify and report any potential dangers in the workplace
  • Cross-train in various departments and assist as needed
  • Communicate well with colleagues and team leader
  • Demonstrate low absenteeism and punctuality
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs (assisted if needed); may work in hot areas 5%, noise 0%
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety as well as active participation in 5S activities in work area

Attributes, Skills and Knowledge:


  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Must be able to understand detailed drawings and schematics
  • Able to understand and interpret technical manuals for a range of products and machines
  • Experience in setting up and operating machines and tools preferred (speed cutter, manual glass cutter, etc)
  • Experience with spot welding
  • Knowledge to select, adjust and use the proper equipment for the assigned task
  • Proficient in the use of measuring tools including calipers, measuring tapes, etc.
  • Must understand imperial and metric systems
  • Basic computer, math and geometry skills
  • Medium to highly detailoriented
  • Some ability to troubleshoot nonfunctioning machinery
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs (assisted if needed)

This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location. Hours are typically 6:00am to 2:30pm with flexibility.
