Position Overview:


  • Lead and supervise finance department staff on accounting, reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and other financial matters.
  • Mentor and supervise the accounting staff by monitoring the daily performance of the department, assignment of duties and providing coaching and mentorship to the team.
  • Manage the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and statutory reporting.
  • Manage/review foreign exchange transactions.
  • Implementation and management of internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Assist accounting team with preparation, management and review of monthend and yearend close requirements.
  • Coordinating the preparation and completion of yearend audited financial statements in compliance with ASPE standards.
  • Providing support to the sales team on product pricing, costing and margins.
  • Prepare and review with Director of Finance weekly cash flow analysis and projections.
  • Ensures rapid and consistent collection of receivables by refining and implementing control mechanisms.
  • Assigns and authorizes cheques, purchase orders and invoices.
  • Signing authority for processing payments, financial obligations, and contracts.
  • Identify and analyze information to give early warning of potential problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with strategic, financing, and financial recommendations/decisions.
  • Work hand in hand with the Director of Finance on numerous projects, tasks and mentoring the accounting team.
  • Protect operations by maintaining confidentiality of financial information and strategic plans.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:


  • University degree or College diploma in Business/Accounting
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in accounting required
  • Advanced knowledge in Sage (Simply Accounting)
  • High proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management.
  • Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.
  • Management and or supervisory experience.
  • Good project management skills and the ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tights timeframes.
  • Ability to adapt to and learn new software
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Energetic selfstarter
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
