CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing June 6, 2023 and closing at 11:59pm on June 9, 2023.


DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The Carpenter is to perform a varied amount of tasks throughout the Hospital.

The Carpenter is responsible for reading and interpreting blue prints and specifications; performing alterations and construction of Hospital and Auxiliary Buildings; repairing woodwork and door hardware; maintaining millwork; installing drop ceilings and tiles; installing plastic wall coverings; minor floor repairs; door hardware and repairs; and documenting time and materials.


  • Certificate of Qualifications issued by the province of Ontario in the Carpentry Trade;
  • Demonstrated ability to make repairs to equipment, to solve related problems and to work with power tools;
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and make responsible decisions within the limits defined by the technical standards or job practices;
  • Proven experience in hospital environment is an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Ability to read and write English to the level required for the job;
  • Knowledge of computer software for Program; MS office/Outlook
  • Physically able to perform essential duties as outlined in the physical demands analysis;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular inservice education in this area;
  • Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
  • Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:


The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.


Successful applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
