- Design, develop, and maintain GEM's data infrastructure, including data pipelines, data warehouses, and databases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design appropriate data models, schemas, and architectures.
- Implement and optimize ETL processes from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, Azure, and other technologies (including 'big data' technologies).
- Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to ensure data infrastructure aligns with the overall IT infrastructure strategy and standards.
- Implement and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, data lineage, and metadata management processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data standards, naming conventions, and data classification.
- Establish and enforce data access controls, data security measures, and privacy protocols.
- Monitor and audit data usage and access to ensure adherence to data governance guidelines.
- Document technical specifications, processes, and guidelines related to data infrastructure.
- Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and recommend innovative solutions to improve data infrastructure and processes.
- 4-6 years of professional experience in a related field.
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in computer engineering, mathematics, data science, or related disciplines.
- Experience using the following software/tools:
- Relational SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MS SQL Server, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB).
- Cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and familiarity with cloud-based data services and storage technologies.
- Data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Azkaban, Luigi, Azure Data Factory, Airflow, etc.
- Leveraging REST APIs.
- Data Warehousing Solutions (e.g., Snowflake) including data modeling, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Data modeling and transformation tools (e.g., DBT).
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team to tackle structured and unstructured data processing problems.
- Relevant certifications in Azure Data Services or Snowflake are a plus.
