The Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) department of TD Bank is responsible for overseeing the management of TD Bank's Canadian and US P&C: non-trading market risk, consolidated liquidity risk and consolidated capital position

The Closed Balance Sheet (CBS) team collaborates with multiple TBSM & Finance stakeholders to identify, quantify & determine root causes for any deviation to the Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) framework and the resolution of structural balance sheet measurement discrepancies.

The Closed Balance Sheet team (CBS) is integral for the bank to accurately represent the true costs/benefits of our product offerings by ensuring Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) is accurate.

CBS takes a thought leadership approach by collaborating with treasury management to identify, quantify & determine root causes for any deviation to the FTP framework and the resolution of structural balance sheet measurement discrepancies.

The team is responsible for socializing findings and solutions with senior management.

The CBS team owns, reports and analyzes all components of the TBSM P&L.

As a centralized function in TBSM, the CBS team act as ambassadors across the bank when discussing key drivers of P&L results which includes, FTP framework changes, hedging strategies & hedge accounting results, funding, capital, investment portfolio and liquidity results.


Job Description:


The Manager will be accountable for several investigations into causes of difference between the Bank's FTP view of net interest income and financial reporting view of net interest income which represent deficiencies in the banks funds transfer pricing, interest rate risk management, foreign exchange risk management or financial reporting processes and methodologies.

The Manager will work across various stakeholder groups both within TBSM and across the bank to identify the cause of differences, quantify the impact, propose solutions and partner with various teams to implement changes to methodologies, processes and reporting to correct for the issue identified.

The Manager will also be accountable for several key initiatives for the CBS team including development of enhanced analytical capabilities, driving for increased efficiency and other project related items as they occur.


Key Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Perform comprehensive analysis into causes of difference between the Bank's Funds Transfer Pricing net interest income and the Bank's Financial Reporting net interest income and present findings to VP BSMA, the Bank's Treasurer and CFO.
  • Partner with Technology, Finance and TBSM business partners to lead the implementation of solutions to the issues identified
  • Act as the CBS team lead for several Bankwide and TBSMwide projects and initiatives
  • Provide updates on investigations and various CBS projects, and present to all levels of the organization, including senior management
  • Support other TBSM teams by providing CBS expertise on banking product features and CBS implications
  • Develop and foster a positive working relationship with partners and project stakeholders

Requirements:


Familiarity with:

  • Principles of asset/liability management, capital markets, and how Treasury delivers value
  • TBSM processes and how they interconnect
  • The features and characteristics of P&C banking products
  • Accounting for banking products including hedge accounting

Experience with:

  • Mappingout/reengineering processes and work flows, including associated change management
  • Communicating with all levels of the organization, including senior management
  • Simplifying and presenting complex concepts and business results in terms understandable by audiences with varied backgrounds including senior bank executives
  • Managing multiple complex projects concurrently
  • Gathering & analyzing financial data to derive value added analysis
  • Managing cross functional teams to deliver on key initiatives
