Coordinator, Finance & Administration:


Primary Purpose:
To provide accounting, financial reporting and administrative support in the Department of Medicine.


Typical Duties/Accountabilities:


  • Provides support for the Finance and Administration Manager, including reconciling financial transactions
  • Assists in the preparation of financial reports and other financial documentations
  • Process journal entries, invoice payments, travel expenses, and other day to day financial transactions
  • Work closely with all department staff and in collaboration with Connection Point teams
  • Invoicing for accounts receivable
  • Purchase card reconciliations
  • Provides assistance in hiring and onboarding of new staff; assists with casual hour semimonthly approvals and employee time reporting
  • Investigates missing transaction information; tracks and follows up on action items
  • Maintains electronic and paper files for audit compliance
  • Model a high standard of performance and outcomes, ensure positive, diverse and inclusive work environments
  • Other tasks as required.

Qualifications

Education:

Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary business program diploma with an emphasis on financial accounting processes and practices from a recognized institution.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.


Experience:
Two or more years of related experience is required; preferably in a complex and diverse fund source organization. General accounting experience in an office setting processing expense claims, cheque requisitions, account reconciliations, and financial reporting is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel is required.

Direct knowledge and experience with University of Saskatchewan systems and functions including human resources, payroll, budgeting, accounting and payment services would be an asset.

Experience working and collaborating in diverse and inclusive settings is required.


Skills:


Demonstrated accounting skills, ability to work in high volume setting and manage and prioritize multiple competing deadlines while maintaining a high attention to detail.

Ability to recognize and implement changes resulting in improved delivery of administrative processes. Ability to take initiative, be self-directed, exercise diplomacy and creativity in solving issues.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with, students, staff, faculty, health care professionals and industry partners.

Evidence of relationship building and ability to work collaboratively within a team. Ability to handle interactions with tact, discretion, confidentiality and cultural sensitivity. Strong computer skills including keyboarding and proficiency with Excel, Outlook, Word, and FAST are essential.

The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $49, ,033.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
