DNV s Solar, Storage, and Wind practices are growing, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented site engineer to perform site visits at utility-scale renewable projects across the United States and Canada.

The
Site Inspector - Multi Technology (Solar, Storage, and Wind) visitor will perform on-site mechanical, electrical, structural and foundational reviews of projects at various stages of construction.

The site visitor will have the opportunity to interact with the EPC, subcontractor, owner or owner s representative on site as a trusted third party.

What You ll Do

  • Organize and plan with Project Managers (PM) dates for site visits for review of construction progress and general quality assurance checks and equipment condition of operational sites or construction sites for turbine installations, (including turbine climbs for mechanical completion confirmation) civil construction and/or electrical installations for solar, storage, and wind Projects in various stages of construction or operation. Goal is to have at least two or three site visits in one continuous 4to5day trip, or four to five site visits on a continuous longer trip
  • Flying or driving within the USA and/or Canada. These can be a combination of wind, storage, and solar sites. Within 24 hours provide highlevel insights and any red flags and within 5 business days of the visit provide a site visit report to the PM detailing the findings
  • Various prospective investors may request to accompany and climb the turbine and/or tour the site with DNV during these visits, and discuss issues raised
  • Comply with all site safety requirements on all new build or operational sites
  • Electrical or civil site visits will include a 6hour tour of all active construction locations, possibly including a turbine foundation pour and / or an energized substation and a summary review of QA/QC documentation and discussions with site staff on issues found. Occasionally in the summer months, civil visits will have to be done during night hours if foundation pours are occurring at night to avoid the heat of the day
  • Turbine site visits (construction monitoring or operational) will include a fourhour tour of the site with the Sponsors representative viewing all active construction, plus a fourhour turbine climb to the nacelle and hub and a visual inspection with the contractors and Sponsor technicians of one mechanically completed turbine generally to heights of over 100 meters. Occasionally two turbine climbs in one day are required on operational site visits. Climb assists or elevators are
    NOT usually available on construction monitoring visits but may be available on operational site visits
  • Provide onsite training in all aspects of your work activities to other DNV hires as required
  • Support and participate in process improvement and innovation initiatives
  • Provide assistance to the turbine, storage, and solar teams in reviewing construction QA/QC for new builds and operational monthly reports for operational sites as requested

Position Qualifications:


What is Required

  • Bachelor s degree in engineering, or equivalent military and/or career experience + at least four years inspecting renewable energy projects in the field (and five years of relevant experience)
  • Field experience that may include but not limited to equipment testing, commissioning, renewable site construction, QAQC inspections
  • Understanding of electrical generation and electrical balance of plant components and commissioning procedures.
  • Understanding of reinforced concrete foundation systems for utility scale onshore wind turbines and/or common Solar PV foundation systems and geotechnical aspects of design
  • Willingness and ability to travel, up to 80% of the time
  • Must possess a valid driver s license and be able to rent and drive a car and travel on public conveyances when required

- ability to lift up to 40 pounds; able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. in addition to transporting one s own luggage for multiple-day travel and push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel with that which is lifted, carried or transported.
