Description
As a dental assistant employed by MCA Dental Group, you are responsible for:

  • Clinical chairside assisting duties for a variety of dental procedures such as, but not limited to: general dentistry, endodontics, surgery;
  • Ensuring that the dentist you are assisting has the necessary dental supplies on hand to perform dental procedures;
  • Radiographs (as prescribed by the Dentist) or dental impressions as required, if applicable by law;
  • Lab duties (impressions, fabrication of mouthguards, etc.) as required;
  • Preparing treatment rooms in accordance with best practices of infection control;
  • Sterilization and disinfection of instruments and equipment with required reporting;
  • Establishing strong patient relationships while maintaining ethical, professional behaviour;
  • Assisting dentists in managing medical and dental emergencies when necessary;
  • Assisting in updating and maintaining client dental records and appointments;
  • Ensuring all treatment consent forms have been completed and gathered;
  • Providing postoperative care instructions as required;
  • Ensuring all clinical and storage areas are clean and organized;
  • Monitoring and maintaining/ordering dental supply inventory on a weekly and monthly basis as required;
  • Identifying gaps in clinical schedule and make recommendations to the Office Manager;
  • Collaborating with colleagues during downtime in schedule;
  • Attending continuing education events from time to time and as required.

During downtime:


  • Assisting teammates in various tasks;
  • Ensuring optimal operation of the sterilization center;
  • Administrative tasks such as:
- working with the manager on treatment plans, recall lists ;
- scheduling appointments;
- following-up on outstanding treatment plans;
- courtesy reminders to patients for upcoming appointments;
- assisting in the preparation and dispatch of predeterminations;
- post-treatment follow-up calls to patients;
- handling patient calls and inquiries regarding appointments, confirmations, and cancellations;
- processing patient referrals and other patient correspondence;
