    The Global SQL Database Administrator will support both operational and project related activities and maintain defined IT standards at all global IKO locations. The scope includes designing, developing, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and performance tuning of all MS SQL/Oracle databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. The incumbent will apply excellent communication, problem-solving, change management, and database skills to ensure the IKO Database and related operations are accurate, up-to-date, available, secure, and performing as the business requires. This opportunity is based fully onsite at our Mississauga, ON office location and reports to the Manager, Global Infrastructure.

  • Monitor and maintain database server and database health
  • Database user administration - create/modify/delete
  • Implement and maintain database backups and restores
  • Optimize server and database settings for better performance
  • Install database software and configure database servers
  • Implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
  • Maintain High Availability Database Environments
  • Provide 1st/2nd level support for issues
  • Implement and maintain agent jobs
  • Participate in projects as required
  • Available to work after hours as needed for high impact incidents and project cutover activities
  • Develop and maintain Disaster Recovery Procedures and participate in DR testing
  • Participate in any Database Security Audits
  • Work collaboratively with Developers
  • Closely adheres to defined Global IT Service Management processes (when published) – change management, incident management, problem management, service level management, knowledge management and request fulfillment processes
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Senior Database Administrator
  • OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 2-5 Years Professional Experience including technical support
  • Certification one or more RDBMS technologies: MS SQL, Oracle
  • Experience with SQL Always-On and SQL Migrations
  • Strong SQL programming and tuning skills
  • Familiarity with SSIS, SSAS, SSRS
  • Excellent Problem Solving Skills
  • Understanding of disaster recovery and database backup procedures
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision and assistance
  • Excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of French or the ability to develop French – for roles based in Belgium.
  • Additional Skills :

  • SQL and P/L SQL
  • Experience with Windows Server and/or Oracle Linux/Redhat Linux
  • Experience with Oracle ASM/RAC/Dataguard/RMAN
  • Solarwinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA) or other Performance Monitoring Tools
  • Oracle Enterprise Monitoring/Cloud Control
  • Basic Knowledge of other databases such as MySQL, Postgres maybe an asset
  • ITIL Certification
  • WORK AUTHORIZATIONS AND TRAVEL;

  • Some travel may be required to supported global locations (5%-20%)
