The Lab Clerk is responsible for providing laboratory support, including data entry, distribution of laboratory reports, customer service, inventory ordering and some financial duties.

Rate of Pay:
$23.54 per hour - $25.24 per hour

Hours of Work 37.5 Hours per Week


Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of a one (1) year certificate in Health Care Office Assistant, Medical Office Assistant, Medical Office Practices or as Acceptable to Hospital
  • One (1) year experience in a Health Care Environment
  • Knowledge of Cerner laboratory Information System (Pathnet)
  • Knowledge of and completion of a Medical Terminology course preferred
  • Proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills, i.e., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other database systems
  • Demonstrated proficient communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask
  • Effective organizational skills involving time management, prioritization and the ability to problem solve while ensuring attention to detail
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well and independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
