The Digital Content team focuses on delivering high-quality content that meets user needs and is data-driven, while supporting business goals.

The team is looking for a highly motivated individual with strong digital content background to work with content creators, product managers, researchers and marketers to plan and create content (product) for World Vision Canada, continually improve that content, and evolve WVC's voice and content standards.

Following a disciplined Agile Scrum approach, the Product Owner, Content Platform (operating as a Content Strategist) will be a part of dedicated agile team(s) focused on creating digital content in various formats, to be leveraged by different teams in a variety of channels and tactics.

The role is to establish and execute a strategy to guide content activities and decisions that meet user and business needs.

The product owner will champion data-driven decisions, market trends and testing, as World Vision Canada strives to be supporter-centric and differentiate with impact.

Reporting into the Impact Content Lead, the Product Owner is a lead member of the Agile Scrum team that is responsible for both defining and prioritizing the Team Backlog so that the solution(s) meet organizational priorities and deliver stakeholder value.

S/he responsibilities include defining the features of the Content Platform, prioritizing such features, adjusting the features and priorities as needed after each sprint/iteration, accepting or rejecting work results, and keeping stakeholders informed on status as well as gain their feedback.

The Product Owner is also responsible for working closely with the Content Lead(operating as Product Manager) to ensure that the product (digital content) vision, roadmap, marketing and the backlog are all in alignment.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure team velocity and effectiveness

  • In collaboration with Product Manager, define the digital content roadmap, growth opportunities, and key metrics based on delivering organizational value
  • Own the process of ideation and creation of digital content, ensuring that maximum value is generated to the user by leveraging data, test results insights, best practices and current market trends
  • Understand the vision of digital content and evaluate various approaches to implement effective solutions
  • Provide vision to the Agile Scrum team members throughout projects and planning cycles
  • Drive innovation by translating thoughts and ideas into tangible requirements in the form of features, epics, capabilities, enablers and user stories
  • Ensure the Agile Scrum team has adequate amount of clearly defined and refined stories in the Team backlog to work on
  • Organize backlog prioritization to deliver epics, capabilities, features, enablers and stories with highest business value and eliminate or renegotiate scope of stories that do not align with the defined purpose of the Agile Scrum team
  • Play an active role working with the Scrum Master in mitigating, documenting, and removing impediments impacting completion of sprint goals and objectives
  • Prioritize needs between scope, budget and time weighing priorities according to supporter value
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily scrum meetings, sprint review and retrospectives, sprint demos, and lead the planning release for output delivery
  • Can deep dive into the details while maintaining the roll up to 360 degree view
