Purpose:
In advancing the Division's vision as Partners in Student Success the Budget Analyst works within established York University Financial procedures and guidelines, the Budget Analyst assists and provides support to ensure financial accuracy of key Student Financial Services processes such as Fees implementation, Financial Aid, Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries for Student Financial Services.

The Budget Analyst will assist with the implementation of planning and control processes. budgeting and forecasting and the streamlining, optimization and automation of current processes.
Education:
University Degree in a financial related field (e.g.
Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration) or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks.
This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Newly designated CPA or working towards CPA designation preferred.Experience:
Minimum 2 years' experience. Progressive experience in accounting and/or financial analysis in a complex computerized records environment. Demonstrated understanding of accounting and financial concepts and principles required. experience working with and analyzing financial and non-financial data (e.g. explaining variances, producing financial reports, creating and maintaining complex financial models, and compliance review).

Reconciliation/monitoring skills for financial records,
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent mathematical skills to work accurately with figures
Very strong oral and written communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a wide range of internal and external contacts to share information and resolve issues
Ability to be flexible and perform as a team player

Ability to work independently and with multiple priorities
Ability to work under pressure of deadlines
Ability to adapt to change and new procedures/policies/technologiesComputer skills:
Advanced computer spreadsheet skills (MS Excel). intermediate word processing skills (MS Word)
Intermediate skills accessing on-line records systems and data bases (e.g., Financial Systems - E-Reports, Student Information Systems - SIS, Access)
Proficiency in the use of computerized scheduling system software (e.g. Outlook)
Proficiency with ZOOM, MS Teams or comparable technology Other skills
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
