February 8, 2023**The Bentway's Coordinator, Digital Marketing is an essential part of The Bentway team, working within the Marketing and Communications Department to engage with audiences, grow attendance to and interest in our work, capture and share memorable moments, and tell The Bentway story.


The Coordinator will help lead digital content planning and execution, acting as a key liaison between The Bentway's audiences and the organization.

They will help shape and deliver an institutional "voice" and serve as a key ambassador for community dialogue through digital channels.


Working boots-on-the-ground, and with external vendors (including photographers, videographers, and other content creators), the Coordinator will also support production of documentation and audio-visual assets.


ABOUT THE BENTWAY


Since Phase 1 of The Bentway - under the Gardiner from Strachan Ave to Fort York Blvd, on the grounds of Fort York National Historic Site - opened in 2018, it has proven to be a vital backyard park, a cultural platform for artist experimentation, and a growing creative movement.

In partnership with the City of Toronto, The Bentway is creating a network of public spaces, developing a cohesive vision for wayfinding, and reconnecting the waterfront to the downtown core.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media

  • Manage all Bentway social media channels including Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook, on an ongoing basis, including scheduled and responsive content
  • Build an engaged following by responding to audience and visitor inquiries/comments, and growing social conversations, dialogue, buzz, and relationships
  • Capture and share live social coverage, and selfgenerated photo/video content, at key Bentway produced events
  • Initiate, run, and optimize social media advertising, including influencer engagement etc.
  • Keep abreast of social media trends and best practices, and implement them into digital marketing plans, where applicable.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure artists, sponsors, and partners are credited properly across all platforms.

Digital Content

  • With direction from the Senior Manager, generate and deploy compelling digital content and program documentation that reflects the creativity of Bentway programming, including:
  • Self-produced content
  • Commissioning and working with photographers, videographers, and other content creators
  • With other members of the Department, organize, store, share, and deploy photo/video assets (including use of Canto, a digital asset management system)

Other

  • Support the Department's development of promotional and advertising campaigns to build successful Bentway programs and events
  • Work with The Bentway staff team to maintain consistent tone and messaging across all platforms
  • Report on departmental activities, including social and newsletter stats
  • Occasional onsite, event day support
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Postsecondary degree in communications and marketing, or demonstrated working experience with digital marketing, nonprofit marketing, communitybuilding, and/or outreach activities
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital and social media marketing, managing and optimizing social media accounts to meet organizational objectives
  • Experience with managing Facebook/Instagram ads
  • Familiarity with (or eagerness to learn) digital management systems, including Mailchimp, Later, Notion, Canto
  • Experience in web management using Wordpress and a sound understanding of HTML, CSS/JavaScript considered an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of design software, such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.
  • Proficiency with video and video editing software and strong photography skills
  • Proven ability to multitask and work under tight timelines
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting
  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends, as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT


The standard work week for most Bentway staff includes split time between work-from-home (3 days) and work-from-office (2 days, at The Bentway Studio, 55 Fort York Blvd).


This role is expected to work normal business hours, Monday to Friday, with the ability to flex time to cover occasional evenings and weekends required to support Bentway events/programming.
