    About the Role

    Reporting directly to the Assistant Director, Technical Accounting & Policies, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the appropriate accounting treatment for significant and complex transactions in accordance with US GAAP, reviewing and providing support for the Company's financial statements and schedules, and assisting in preparation of the Company's accounting policies.

    Your Responsibilities

    • Support compliance with accounting and regulatory requirements, including researching and providing guidance to global finance teams on various technical accounting issues
    • Prepare position papers to support the appropriate accounting treatment of significant and complex transactions
    • Provide support on the Company's financial statements, including determining the impact of significant and complex transactions, and overall compliance with disclosure requirements
    • Support the accounting for post-retirement benefits and related note disclosures
    • Review and update US GAAP compliant accounting policies, including preparation of new policies
    • Assist with ad-hoc projects

    Who we are looking for

    • Ability to prepare technical accounting memorandums with sufficient depth
    • Ability to balance multiple tasks with competing priorities in a dynamic environment
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Pension accounting experience is an asset

    Your preferred qualifications

    • University degree
    • CPA or CPA, CA designation
    • 6+ years work experience either from a public accounting firm or a public company
    • Strong experience researching, applying and communicating guidance under US GAAP and SEC requirements
    • Experience in the preparation or review of external financial reporting for public companies
