    Description

    Job Summary:

    • The Network and Server Technician is responsible for technical and analytical tasks related to the investigation, configuration, implementation, and review of the VPL network and servers.
    • Configuring, installing, supporting, monitoring, and maintaining local staff, public, and wifi networks of the Library.
    • Collaborating with internal VPL teams and the City of Vancouver Network team to establish new services and connectivity.

    This role involves provisioning VPL smartphones, planning and validating backups and restores, managing firewalls, coordinating with vendors, and providing end-user support for various IT services.

    Job Requirements:

    Education/Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
    • Current Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE) is preferred

    Experience:

    • Minimum of three years of data network experience, including enterprise environments
    • Proficiency in Cisco switch and router troubleshooting and installation
    • Strong problem-solving skills for network and server hardware and software issues

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Extensive knowledge of networking hardware and communication technology
    • Familiarity with backup technologies and server operations
    • Experience in network, server, and storage monitoring tools
    • Proficient in office productivity tools and excellent communication skills
    • Capable of handling confidential information and establishing effective relationships
    • Ability to work with technical and non-technical teams
    • Valid Class 5 BC driver's license and Enhanced Reliability Check security clearance required
