About the TeamIn 2024, Workday launched an Enterprise Data and Analytics team with a mission to transform and optimize the way Workday creates and shares trusted data to drive actionable insights and data-led innovation across the enterprise. The team has introduced a new, cloud based technical stack, a Data Product methodology anchored in the principles of DataOps, an active Data Governance methodology to manage the quality and discovery of data, and a series of modern analytics tools that facilitate discovery, analysis, visualization, machine learning, and AI. The team's goal is to lead high value multi-functional data and analytics work and to establish and support the broader Workday analytics community by establishing modern, common ways of working, facilitating training and communication, and creating secure data and analytics brokering capability across business units.
About the RoleWe are seeking a hands-on Principal of DataOps Engineering to help optimize our data cloud-based platform by implementing CI/CD automation that drives technical and business processes. This would include establishing thought leadership for a small team of 4 DataOps engineers, coordinating with IT and Analytics Engineering, implementing the CI/CD for our data workflows, and helping to establish critical integrations between platforms to power those CI/CD workflows. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of DataOps/DevOps principles, experience on teams that manage data as a product and leverage modern DataOps tools, and a passion for automation and efficiency. This role will be instrumental in building and scaling our data platform to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

    • Collaborate across the organization, including with IT and Analytics Engineering.
    • Implement test-driven development principles in CI/CD pipelines specialized to the data space.
    • Implement DataOps CI/CD best practices in CI/CD pipelines via integration with ED&A's data tech stack (Snowflake, dbt, Atlan, Acceldata, Airflow, and GitHub).
    • Measure adoption and look for continuous improvement opportunities related to technology, process, and skills.
    • Drive and, to the extent possible, automate the creation of detailed documentation for implemented CI/CD pipelines and operating procedures.

    • Continuously tune developed solutions for optimal performance.

    Our Approach to Flexible Work
With Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field** with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

At Workday, we are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive hiring experience where all candidates can fully demonstrate their skills.
