Description
PURPOSE and SCOPE:
Responsible for needs assessment, and designing, developing, implementing, training, and evaluating technical training and development programs to support the growth of people and programs with a primary focus on the manufacturing and operations areas to improve skills and performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position:
- Supports the strategy realization of MacDon with key focus on training and development of manufacturing personnel and technical programs
- Key coordinator for technical training initiatives, able to facilitate training on the floor or in the classroom and work with internal and external trainers
- Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with internal customers and external sources
- Sources trainers/programs to support training requirements providing recommendations for best options
- Is primary liaison and contact for Apprenticeship Manitoba and administers apprenticeship programs at MacDon
- Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training for new hires for technical skills
- Conducts policy and procedure training and writes QMS document drafts
- Develops rollout strategies for programs, utilizing change management principles
- Leverages creative ways to help employees learn particularly in the manufacturing environment
- Develops unique training programs to address specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.
- Creates and/or acquires training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.
- Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, videos in person, recorded and virtually
- Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
- Assesses training materials prepared by instructors.
- Participates in HR initiatives and projects as required
- Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.
- Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing role is preferred
- Proven ability to develop and successfully implement programs in a manufacturing environment
- Certificate in Adult Continuing education or relevant degree is an asset
- Advanced knowledge and experience in the areas of utilizing technology to deliver best in class learning experiences.
- Strong influential and building relationship with stakeholder's skills.
- 35 years of training and development experience
Skills and Knowledge
- 35 years' experience training in a manufacturing environment both on shop floor and classroom
- Excellent presentation and communication skills to convey information to others effectively
- Facilitation skills to work with cross functional teams
- Instructional design skills
- Ability to use elearning tools (i.e., Articulate) considered an asset
- Strong timemanagement skills and the ability to prioritize effectively
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization
- Must have intermediate to advanced knowledge with MS Office, Power Point and Excel.
