Job Summary
Supporting students with special needs including physical and development needs (e.g. ASD, DD, CP, Down Syndrome). Special needs students may also require support with behavioural needs. Duties may include toileting, lifting, transferring, feeding, dressing and personal hygiene.

All DECE assignments are Level 3 unless in a long term assignment then level 4.


All Peel District School Board Designated Early Childhood Educators must have appropriate post-secondary certification in one of the areas outlined below and direct related experience.


Qualifications

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Proof of current registration, in "Good Standing" with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (please upload a copy as an "Additional Document")
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Full-Day Early Learning Program
  • Ability, experience and skill in working as a member of a team
  • Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents / caregivers, staff
and the general public

  • Understanding and commitment to confidentiality
  • Basic computer skills
  • Awareness of safe food handling practices
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and work environment
  • Related experience in planning and implementing ageappropriate programs is an asset

Additional Skills & Assets

  • Schoolbased experience is an asset.
