ABOUT THE ROLE


The RISE (Respect In Schools Everywhere) Program Worker is a full-time permanent position that provide a range of outreach, prevention and early intervention services to youth, families, and groups to enhance and maintain a youth's development within in the community.


_ Salary range:

_$57,143 to $66,544 per annum_

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide a range of services that are responsive to a youth's individual need that enhance and maintain their development within the community
  • Outreach and engage with high risk, marginalized youth in activities that promote assets, competencies, and resiliency
  • Engage youth to identify issues, needs, goals aspirations, skills, abilities and services needed as well as barrier to accessing these services.
  • Engage in professional development activities and record accurate client information that is reflective of policy, accreditation and ministry standards, while illustrating the goals, targets and deliverables of identified services.
  • Develop, plan, and implement workshops, programs, and skill development groups internally and within the community.
  • Develop and nurture strong community linkages for the purpose of engagement and response to crisis as required.
  • Respond and participate in organizational wide initiatives
  • Facilitate programs in partnership with youth that support the development of peer facilitators and peer leaders who can support organizational governance and community wide initiatives.

THE "MUST HAVES"
The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

  • Child and Youth Work Diploma.
  • 12 years of direct related experience
  • Knowledge of factors impacting the community (violence, employment, food security, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Youth Engagement practices
  • Knowledge of financial support resources for youth (OW, ODSP, OSAP, etc.).
  • Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
  • An understanding of antiblack racism, antioppressive/antiracism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
  • Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.

THE 'NICE TO HAVES'

  • Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
  • Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
