Affordability and Utilities is responsible for leading and coordinating government's ongoing efforts to make everyday life more affordable, with particular focus on the province's utilities sector and electricity system.
The Office of the Utilities Consumer Advocate represents the interests of electricity and natural gas (residential, farm, and small business) consumers in Alberta.
The UCA works to ensure Alberta utility consumers have the information, representation, and protection they need in Alberta's electricity and natural gas markets.
The UCA solicits and analyzes consumer concerns and provides advice and guidance to stakeholders including government, regulators, and utilities.Role Responsibilities:
To support the critical work of the Office of the Utilities Consumer Advocate, we are searching for an organized, engaging, and detail-oriented individual to join our team in the role of Consumer Issues Coordinator.

Issues Coordination: maintain a Consumer Issues Register to track existing and emerging issues reported by residential, small business, and farm consumers of electricity, natural gas and water. Working with management and stakeholders, communicate concerns and establish the UCA action plan to manage the issues.

System Tool Maintenance: maintain the Cost Comparison Tool on the UCA website ensuring quality assurance and provision of accurate, useful, and accessible information to consumers that will objectively assist them in making their own retail energy choices. Ensure that information is well-presented and clearly articulated.

Client Service: provide public liaison with regulated and competitive retail, distribution, and energy companies, as well as with municipalities and agencies on consumer issues.

Office Operations: work closely with Senior Operations Manager to coordinate action plans to address and resolve issues and collaborate with other internal teams, agency partners, and other stakeholders to address consumer issues. Follow up communication, reports, and briefings are developed by the Consumer Issues Coordinator to provide feedback and ensure positive outcomes.

Qualifications:
University graduation in a related field (Arts, Commerce, Communications) with no related experience; OR a Diploma in a related field (Business Administration) plus 2 years of experience in client service, issues coordination, and/or business administration/communication is required.
Relevant experience includes:
- Issues tracking and coordination / CRM tracking
- Experience in researching, writing (including writing for the web), and editing;
- Demonstrated project coordination with multiple stakeholders
Equivalencies may be applied on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience OR 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

This is a 1-year temporary, full-time opportunity with possibility of extension. It is located in Edmonton.
Hours of work: 8:15 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
