_Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a full time, 40 hours per week, Child Care Worker in EDMONTON to join our team. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community_

_This position has a weekly schedule of: Monday - Friday 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM (Some flexibility is required)_

Program Overview:


Lurana Shelter is a first stage shelter for women and their children fleeing family violence. Providing safety, physical, psychological and spiritual care to them during their stay in Lurana

The Child Support Program provides a safe, violence-free environment for children. Through appropriate play, children learn positive coping strategies, safety planning and appropriate expression of emotions.


Job Duties
Primary job duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Complete Ages and Stages assessment or Resiliency assessment for children under the care
  • Provide play based activities that stimulate and support children's intellectual, physical, social, emotional and language development
  • Ensure toys are age appropriate and safe to use
  • Ensure good hygiene standards are met
  • Aware of risks and behavior issues related to anger, isolation and fear
  • Work with children oneonone if necessary
  • Following all safety procedures (including Child Protection Policy)
  • Network with local's schools and community to promote positive public relations
  • Complete all required reports and statistics, such as Signs of Safety, Service Plan, in a timely and thorough manner
  • Ensure professional communication with all stakeholders
  • Actively participate in staff meeting
  • Attend training/staff development programs
  • Follow professional guidelines and Agency protocols in addressing conflict, critical incident, serious occurrence
  • Assist in maintaining building and equipment according to Agency standards
  • Report concerns to Team Leader
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education

  • Child Care Level III or equivalent

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in working with children exposed to violence.

Compensation:

The salary for this position is
$22.63 to $25.46 per hour based on qualifications and experience. We offer flexibility and supportive working environment.
