    BURNCO is looking to hire a determined Quality Assurance Technician for our Edmonton Ready-Mix division. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for supporting the sampling and testing of raw ready-mix materials to ensure exceptional products are prepared for clients surrounding Edmonton. The successful candidate is an individual that can engage collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve deliverables while also being a self-starter with an aptitude for working independently and within a team environment.

  • What You Will Be Doing

  • Plant/Site testing of concrete.
  • Communicate with clients, third party testing companies, and operations personnel.
  • Troubleshoot and provide recommendations to maintain high-quality ready-mix product.
  • Observe and document placement, logistical, and curing conditions that will impact product performance.
  • Observe and document third party testing procedures.
  • Prepare and test cylinders for compressive strength.
  • Sample and test ready mix raw materials.
  • Prepare and execute batch trials.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • What We Would Like From You

    Education & Experience

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Candidates who have or are working towards a designation will be given preference.
  • Construction industry experience with previous knowledge of concrete testing is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of CSA 23.2:19 field testing procedures.
  • CCIL/ACI certification for concrete testing is considered an asset.
  • Have a valid minimum Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment by following instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and on varying shifts (including nights and weekends), as required.
  • Travel to be expected approximately 75% of the time (partially dependent on where the candidate is situated).
  • Able to work in conditions which may include varying weather, temperature, and heavy lifting (23 kgs / 50 lbs).
  • Highly motivated and disciplined with an ability to take ownership for personal learning.
