Project Supervisor - Onsite - Pinawa, Manitoba

Job Summary
The
Project Supervisor position is required to coordinate and supervise an integrated team of staff conducting decommissioning field work.

Reporting to the Project Manager (for WR-1 Work Planning and Decommissioning), the Project Supervisor is the lead supervisor for field execution of projects responsible for safe leadership, efficient utilization of resources, schedule adherence, and meeting production/profitability goals.

The teams may be dedicated or resourced through the Whiteshell (WL) Integrated Work Control Process.

The Project Supervisor's leadership skills and extensive experience have provided them with the ability to direct the work of others and are expected to use their experience and judgement to make decisions within their limits of authority.

The Project Supervisor is well organized and chooses safety above all else.


Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) Employees perform all duties in accordance with established health and safety and regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (i.e., utilizing personal protective equipment as per safe work procedures).

Notifies management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns that are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers or any other s on the premises in a timely manner and in accordance with established reporting requirements.


Qualifications

Education

  • Two (2) year Technical or University diploma / degree, or a Journeyperson trades certification with seven (7) years or more of relevant experience.

Experience

  • Seven (7) years of relevant experience, with at least five (5) years leading and executing field work.
  • Experience in a nuclear facility or nuclear decommissioning is an asset.

  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Able to prepare accurate resource and cost estimates and schedule, run and report progress on multiple concurrent jobs.
  • Familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of software programs.

Functions and Responsibilities

Functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintains log/reports including site, production, time keeping, daily field work report, work instruction package (WIP) sign offs/ status, and associated drawing sign offs. May assit with cost tracking, cost and resource estimating, and the development of new WIPs.
  • Document personnel issues to support hiring, release, promotion or disciplinary actions.
  • Provide input and influence on decisions regarding scheduling of worker training and vacation based on infield activities.
  • Extremely effective at verbal communication to help identify and resolve issues, communicate solutions and coordinate resources. Provides verbal encouragement and recognition to staff.
  • Participate in daily/weekly meetings with project team/managers/planner and support services regarding planning and progress reporting, as needed and if the field work will allow.
  • Responsible for communicating to the planner the working schedule scope, T-XX forecasted activities that support the advancement of the Baseline, management of site wide resources, and enable and schedule walk down activities.
  • Responsible to ensure trained and qualified resources are effectively deployed, aligned and utilized increasing overall productivity.
  • Monitor plan of the day (POD) field work assignments utilizing the daily field report and provide daily progress updates against the expected completed work activities to the Project Manager.
  • Prepare work permits, lead prejob briefings and postjob reviews, or delegates this responsibility as needed.
  • Maybe required to rotate through an oncall schedule; act as a single point of contact (SPOC) for trades resources to respond to emergent issues after hours.
  • Provide leadership that results in a safe work culture, and responsible and accountable for the safety of the crew under their direction. Translate the baseline or detailed working schedule into prioritized work for the crew.
  • Consult with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Operations, Planners and Work Management staff to prioritize and schedule project work activities.
  • Clearly understand the project scope and ensure work outside of approved scope is not done prior to proper approvals and required documentation is completed and signed off.
