    The Opportunity

    Our Internal Audit team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in Calgary, Alberta.

    Reporting to the Manager, SOX Compliance, the Senior SOX Auditor will participate in the testing for TC Energy's annual SOX compliance program to support our certification that our internal control environment is operating effectively. The successful candidate will have broad exposure to TC Energy's operations and will interact with process owners across various functions as well as our external auditors.

    What you'll do

    • Develop an in-depth understanding of TC Energy's control environment, and proactively identify process and control improvements in support of SOX Compliance
    • Develop process documentation, evaluate process and control design, and coordinate process walkthroughs
    • Develop and execute detailed test plans and document sufficient evidence to support conclusions and meet documentation requirements
    • Prepare detailed analysis of process and control issues, planned remediation, and effectiveness of remediation activities
    • Continuously evaluate the current set of in-scope controls and recommend opportunities to optimize controls through improvements and/or automation
    • Assist with the development of the annual SOX plan, including risk assessment and scoping
    • Build strong relationships and work collaboratively with members of relevant business areas, as well as Internal Audit and the external auditors
    • Consult on new initiatives, system implementations, accounting policy changes, and acquisitions/dispositions and assess the impact of the changes on internal controls
    • Other special projects as required, including work on Internal Audits .

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, accounting, or finance
    • Minimum 4-6 years of SOX internal controls experience
    • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), PCAOB auditing standards, COSO, and Canadian/US GAAP
    • Strong ability to assess control testing results and clearly communicate impact to the SOX team, process and control owners, and external auditors
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications and demonstrated ability to learn new applications
    • Ability to work under pressure, resolve problems and make decisions quickly and effectively, and continually look for opportunities for improvements.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Public accounting firm experience in SOX compliance
    • Experience working with audit management software (i.e. Audit Board)
    • Experience working with and auditing processes in SAP
    • Ability to work in Spanish.
