Description

Payroll Administration Responsibilities:

  • Managing employment tax compliance requirements across all jurisdictions (Canada, US, UK, Germany)
  • Ensuring accuracy of all payroll data, such as, benefits forms, expense reimbursements, deductions
  • Accurately entering payroll information
  • Verifying and balancing of payroll on time
  • Processing new hires, transfers, and terminations and keeping records up to date across systems (Bamboo, Wagepoint, NetSuite, etc.)
  • Preparing and/or approving ROE's and T4s/RL1s as well as 1099s, W2s and T4As
  • Liaising with applicable government entities regarding payroll remittances and surveys
  • Working with our payroll partners on stop payments/reversals
  • Reviewing and maintaining worker's compensation for all applicable jurisdictions
  • Maintaining digital payroll filing system
  • Auditing Payroll Registers
  • Responding in a timely and appropriate manner to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll data
  • Reviewing and maintaining worker's compensation for all applicable jurisdictions
  • Assistance with SR&ED calculations and research
  • Review and evaluation of potential new payroll providers and systems
  • Other related duties as assigned

Bookkeeping Responsibilities:

  • Recording and maintaining all financial records
  • Completing bank statement reconciliations at the end of each month
  • Preparation of monthend and yearend journal entries (amortization entries, asset depreciation, etc)
  • Preparation of monthend reconciliation reports for review
  • Accounts payable, including monitoring invoices, proper general ledger coding, and payment set up
  • Establishing accounting procedures and schedules that will enable the team to run more effectively
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly tax filings (QST/GST) and monthly tax filings (PST)
  • Other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience with computerized full cycle payroll and bookkeeping administration in diverse jurisdictions


  • Bilingual

  • Strong English and French written and oral communication
  • Knowledge of Canadian federal, provincial, and US state wage and salary laws and regulations, prior international exposure is a definite asset
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment
  • Record maintenance skills
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Wagepoint, Trinet, Carta, CaptivateIQ and BambooHR is a strong asset
  • CPA (Canadian Payroll Association) designation an asset
