Corporate Law Clerk

Etobicoke, ON
One day a week of remote work is offered

This is a permanent full time role


Our client, a dynamic and growing law firm located in north-west Toronto, is in need of a Corporate Law Clerk to join its team.


Working in conjunction with the Corporate Department lawyers, law clerks and legal assistants, the Law Clerk will assist in ensuring a positive and high level of client service at all times.

This role is primarily an in-office position. One day of remote work is available.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with articles of incorporation, amendments, amalgamations, dissolutions, continuance, arrangements, etc.
  • Prepare and draft correspondence and resolutions
  • Assist with corporate reorganizations, restructuring and mergers & acquisitions
  • Prepare document books
  • Work on multiple transactions and matters simultaneously

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Skilled in interpreting instructions, preparing required documentation and correspondence and following files through to completion;
  • Able to meet deadlines and ensure appropriate response times;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for contact with clients and staff;
  • Excellent organization skills with exceptional attention to details;
  • Superior oral and written communication skills;
  • Able to work independently as well as actively as part of a team;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks;
  • Ability to manage multiple internal clients and be adaptable to the needs of each;
  • Able to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in all matters.
  • Must be familiar with billing and docketing systems.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Law Clerk diploma preferably
  • Minimum of 2 year of corporate experience required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Decisiveness and ability to carry out responsibilities with mínimal direction/supervision
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage practice of multiple lawyers
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Excel / Word / Outlook)
