Job Purpose:


The Prospect Researcher is responsible for major gifts prospecting and research, database management, and pipeline development, including moves management, financial reporting, and analysis.

This individual will ensure that all WVC Philanthropy fundraising teams are equipped with robust pipelines of well-researched Major Gifts, Corporate and Foundations prospects.

Additionally, the Prospect Researcher will provide donor management support for Middle Donors and Church Engagement.

Together with the Product Manager, Campaign Manager, and Director, Philanthropy Engagement, they will build and maintain a strong moves management system that continuously moves donors through the stages of the donor cycle while continuously conducting internal and external research to identify and allocate new HNW individuals, corporations, foundations and planned giving prospects to the Philanthropy teams' pipelines.

They will also provide strategic direction on the structure of CRM ensuring they are meeting the unique needs of all Philanthropy teams to create a best-practice customer service model.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Prospect, Research & Pipeline Development
  • Proactively identifies new and highlevel annual and campaign major gift leads and prospects through electronic alerts, analysis, screening information, data mining techniques, push technology, demographic searches, etc.
  • Ensure Philanthropy Engagement advisor pipelines and portfolios are robust, contain strong viable prospects and are supported by a continual flow of newly identified and effectively rated prospective donors.
  • Maintain the research intake system and ensure research deliverables are provided in a timely manner to fundraising teams to support fundraising and engagement strategies.
  • Develop and synthesize information on prospects (including individuals, corporations, and foundations) to produce clear profiles/biographies of their background, inclination to give and capacity, giving history, and philanthropic interests.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a fundraising environment with a heavy focus on prospect research, prospect management, database management, and fundraising operations.
  • Excellent organizational, research, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Experience researching high net worth and families, companies, and foundations, and identifying their capacity, propensity, and affinity to the cause.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in organizational financial systems and relationship management and opportunity tracking systems. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint); Dynamics 365 experience, a plus.
  • Proficiency with prospect research tools and prospect rating systems such as, iWave, Grant Connect, Target Analytics, etc.
  • Experience supporting a major capital campaign.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g. scrum, Kanban, Retrospectives etc.) is an asset.
  • Committed to excellent client service and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle matters of discretion, highly sensitive and confidential material and possess a high degree of integrity, with an understanding of relevant privacy legislation and ethical obligations under the Donor Bill of Rights and APRA/AFP's ethics and professional standards.
  • Strong relational and teamwork skills with an ability to contribute to a dynamic team in a serviceoriented, fastpaced environment, working proactively, collegially, and constructively with others, both within the team and across the organization, to foster a resultsoriented and collaborative environment.
  • Outstanding selfmanagement skills to work independently, autonomously, take your own initiative and the ability to prioritize work and handle conflicting demands.
