Location: Kapuskasing – Papermill, ON

GreenFirst is looking for a welder to work within a team to fabricate, install and repair all equipment requiring welding services in the mill. The successful candidate will also provide analysis and evaluate breakdowns and major repairs, be safety-conscious, energetic, and able to understand your role in our team.

Responsibilities :
• Participate in the implementation of the best techniques for reliability and planning of welding work in the papermill to obtain optimal productivity, quality, and efficiency.
• Support the maintenance team for repair, modification, installation and manufacturing in a safe, professional and efficient manner.
• Participate in the search for solutions for the elimination of failures.
• Promote and ensure a safe working environment, seek improvements, and maintain the health and safety program.
• Maintain communications programs to keep employees informed.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and participate in the work of other trades and apprentices within the papermill.
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of welding tools, hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools.
Requirements :
• Successful completion of a 2-year welder course or a successful completion of a 1 year course and 1 year of experience or a hold a recognized license in the field.
• Preference given to candidates holding a red seal welding certificate.
• 5 years welding experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proven commitment to workplace safety.
• Commitment to quality and the ability to work as a positive, effective team member.
• Understand and adhere to quality requirements and productivity expectations.
• Ability to pass fit-testing for the wearing of a respirator, if required.
• Language: Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
