  • Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) is a fullservice community teaching hospital located in the growing and thriving community of Burlington, Ontario, serving more than 185,000 residents in Halton, Hamilton, Waterdown, Flamborough, Milton and Stoney Creek.   • JBH is a Clinical Education site in conjunction with McMaster University, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital. Its expanded campus includes the stateofart Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower, featuring a new Emergency Department, 172 acute inpatient beds, 9 new Operating Rooms and postanaesthetic care unit to support expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services. JBH is also a partner member of the Burlington Ontario Health Team.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Answer phone calls

  • relay messages, liaise between staff, physicians and public.
  • Page appropriate Emergency "Codes" and alarms as required and implement the necessary procedures according to Hospital Policy.
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduation diploma, previous clerical or administrative experience preferred.
  • Must be able to operate a Multiline Digital Telephone Branch Exchange System.
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Excellent command of the English language (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities.
  • An excellent telephone manner required and knowledge of Hospital and Community Services.
  • Demonstrated computer experience utilizing the full suite of Microsoft Office Products and the Hospital Meditech Order Entry System.
  • Demonstrated typing skills of words per minute.
  • Critical thinking skills are essential to assist staff, physicians, patients and visitors as they navigate through the complex Hospital System.
