    Your Role

    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will be based in our Toronto office. The HRBP is accountable for supporting the full employee life cycle and HR programming for a portfolio that includes legal and designated business professionals.

    The successful candidate will be an experienced HR generalist with a demonstrated skillset as a recruiter, business partner, and relationship manager across multiple client groups. This role requires an individual with a passion for recruitment, a commitment to client service excellence, strong attention to detail and focus on execution, and who understands the bigger picture and impact of the work they do each day on the Firm's mission, vision, values, and employee experience.

    Hours of work are from 9 am to 5 pm. Occasional pre-authorized overtime may be required to meet client needs. This is a hybrid role.

    A Day in The Life

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as the first point of contact for management and staff on all HR matters
  • Provide guidance, coaching, intervention, and follow-up on employee relations issues, conflict resolution, attendance management, performance management, manager and employee development, career and workforce planning, policy interpretation, and communication
  • Create and implement staffing strategies to help attract and retain top talent including, but not limited to, full cycle recruitment, succession plans, and promotions. Provide internal and external candidates and hiring managers with a positive, professional and agile recruitment experience
  • Meet regularly with people leaders to provide regular updates on recruitment, address performance and employee relations concerns, discuss the status of business goal achievement, and review metrics for the groups in the assigned portfolio
  • Draft and maintain job descriptions, and make compensation recommendations for assigned portfolio of business groups
  • Leverage Fasken's HRIS (UKG) to it's full extent, including but not limited to, full cycle recruitment functionality, engagement, performance management, time and attendance, and reporting modules. Act as a champion and subject matter expert on Fasken's HRIS modules
  • Facilitate, maintain, and analyze reports and metrics to identify trends and make recommendations
  • Work with the Senior Manager, Human Resources to investigate and document employment issues and develop a plan of action
  • Design and deliver onboarding, orientation, training and information sessions to help foster a high performance culture
  • Support terminations and conduct exit interviews
  • Seek out innovative solutions and opportunities to streamline work processes, build best practices, and enhance the way HR delivers services
  • Ensure the flow of appropriate information to team members.
  • Participate in HR projects

  • Must Haves

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources
  • CHRP/CHRL designation is an asset
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience, with two (2)+ years as an HR generalist and additional experience in recruiting, policy development, and HR administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant provincial and national employment standards, acts, regulations, and common law determinations
