What can I expect to do in this role?: Support a dynamic and innovative team in the measurement and analysis of the ministry's natural resource policies and programs. This role includes providing technical, analytical and administrative support in the design and implementation of performance management and summative evaluation plans including development of logic models, key performance indicators and natural resource economic analysis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge

  • Understanding of the theory, principles and practices of natural resource management and environmental risk assessment planning and management.
  • Knowledge of summative evaluation processes, consultation and engagement approaches.
  • Knowledge of data and information analysis techniques and computerbased analytical, data management and modeling techniques to research, compile and analyze data; prepare reports and related materials and recommend effective courses of action.
  • Knowledge of policy research and analysis techniques, environmental scanning, modelling and trends forecasting, including utilizing databases and websites to gather, summarize and interpret information.
  • General understanding of legislative, regulatory, policy and planning tools that support biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource management in Ontario.
  • Knowledge of personal computers including Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and communication software such as MS Teams.
Skills and Abilities

  • Welldeveloped research and analytical skills to conduct research, analyze, assess and report on complex and diverse issues with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to assist in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, briefing notes and a variety of communications materials.
  • Professionalism, judgment and demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and address issues with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, partners, Indigenous communities and with other ministries.
  • Strong organizational, project management and time management skills to undertake and balance multiple tasks and shifting timelines.
  • Information management and computer skills to conduct research, maintain electronic information systems and prepare reports.

Eligibility:


  • Proof of eligibility to work in Canada;
  • Has graduated or will graduate from an approved or legally authorized college or university with a diploma or an equivalent degree or postgraduate certificate within the last four years;
  • Are not a permanent employee in the OPS.
