ABOUT THE TEAM
The External Manager Selection and Monitoring ("EMSM") team currently oversees portfolios across Capital Markets' three asset classes: Public Equity, Public Fixed Income and Alternatives.
It also plays a transversal role within the Capital Markets group, not only by selecting best in class external managers to complete internal strategies but also by helping internal teams to constantly improve.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
As an Intern, External Manager Selection and Monitoring, you'll:
- Assist the team in performing quantitative and qualitative analysis on existing and prospective managers
- Update performance and portfolio data of EMSM's underlying managers and perform analysis on the data. Provide the EMSM team with insights obtained from such analysis
- Help build additional analytical tools and market monitoring dashboards
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of all operational tasks done by the team
- Participate in manager calls/meetings
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program, ideally with a concentration in finance and/or a quantitative field (financial engineering, statistics, economics, etc.)
- Good understanding of investments and financial instruments
- Effective communications skills, both written and spoken
- High level of proficiency with MS Office (particularly Excel)
- Programming experience (any of Python, R, etc.), and knowledge of Bloomberg, an asset
- Ability to navigate a fastpaced environment with a high level of autonomy
- Attention to detail and rigorous approach to research, analysis and documentation
- Demonstrated initiative and curiosity to look beyond surface facts and conduct comprehensive, factbased, valueadded research
- Team player
- Eagerness to learn, ideate and innovate
- Pursuing a CFA designation, an asset
- Good communications skills in English and French (or willingness to learn) (regular interactions in English with investment partners based outside of
Quebec Example:
peers, bankers, brokerage firms, etc. and PSP employees in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
This position is located at our Montreal office.
