COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Creative Services, the Communications Advisor is a skilled content creator and writer who loves to develop engaging and dynamic content that will support learners and the wider college community, with a strong focus on internal communications.

Relishing in solving communications challenges, the Communications Advisor understands the audience and forms strong relationships with all internal stakeholders.

This role will enhance the learner experience, support more proactive learner enrolment behaviour, and facilitate communications across all college communications channels.


Using an excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment, the Communications Advisor is innovative, organized, and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving strategic messages to key stakeholders.

Experience in diverse and inclusive communities and working with students and faculty will be considered an asset.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Build and draft communication briefs and plans for communications projects, which include budget guidelines, timelines, approval processes, production, implementation, and postimplementation evaluation.
  • Contribute and develop communications plans aligned with other related college and divisional plans.
  • Work with team members and management to prioritize project assignment and workflow.
  • Evaluate campaign and initiatives outcomes, informing and reporting to project managers and leadership.
  • Coordinate with departments and units to deliver and manage projects within expected timelines, budget guidelines, and college brand and visual identity guidelines.
  • Identify and recommend effective tactics to deliver on strategic communications objectives for each campaign and initiative.
  • Work with Creative Services on the design and execution required to fulfill communications campaigns, promotions, and tactics as appropriate for internal and external audiences including print and digital.
  • Assist with college recruitment and student events such as career fairs, Open House, conferences, training sessions, and convocation.
  • Meet with Manager, department, and division to discuss and set priorities, review work, set performance plans, and review performance.
  • Provide communications consultation on key initiatives, which includes research, planning, execution, and measurement of initiatives.
  • Identify strategies and tactics to successfully support program areas in achieving their goals around student engagement and conversion.
  • Measure the performance of communications tactics and strategies and improve approaches as necessary.
  • Develop engaging content and key messages for various communications channels.
  • Ensure key strategic and brand messages are consistent, on brand, and communicated effectively to target audiences.
  • Write SEO informed web content to support web strategy and learner attraction and understanding.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships, collaborating with key internal customers and stakeholders in the Learner Experience portfolio, faculties, business development, Student Recruitment, Advancement, Strategic Integration & Stakeholder Relations, and other business areas to identify and assess communication needs and opportunities, providing consulting, recommendations, and results.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Related degree or diploma in public relations, communications, professional writing.
  • 3+ years' experience in developing and executing effective communications plans in a large, multifaceted organization.
  • Experience in education, ideally postsecondary, is an asset.
  • Experience working with clients across a variety of portfolios.
