We are currently hiring an

Operations Manager
, to oversee and manage screening operations for the

Edmonton International Airport
, providing direction, guidance and support to ensure operational effectiveness.


GardaWorld is the largest provider of aviation services for the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), offering screening services in 28 airports across Canada.


Reporting to the General Manager, (GM), the Operations Manager, manages and oversees the Checkpoint Managers, (CPM), and all aspects of site planning, organizing, training and monitoring to achieve the overall performance expectations of CATSA, Transport Canada and GardaWorld.


Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensures site operations comply with GardaWorld and CATSA s financial, operational and security procedures, policies and programs
  • Manages CPM performance
  • Monitors operational performance metrics and suggests operational improvements
  • Identifies needed performance improvements by analyzing internal data and external best practices
  • Makes timely, intelligent, realistic recommendations for reactive and proactive change
  • Provides the GM with information to assist with longterm strategic planning
  • Develops and implements CPM schedules and tracks all vacations, time off, leaves, etc.
  • Oversees and manages all aspects of the CATSA operational staff relationship
  • Directs, motivates and coaches the performance of direct reports
  • Executes employee programs for direct reports, (i. e., reward and recognition, retention and engagement)
  • Travel to other bases to provide assistance as required

Application Requirements:


  • Postsecondary education in a relevant field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in aviation or related field
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite specifically in Excel and Access
  • Proven experience of managing teams
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident as defined in the Immigration Act with an employment authorization document
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and Secret Clearance
  • No previous criminal background for which a pardon has not been granted
  • 18 years or older

  • Travel may be required for training. Other travel may be requested when assistance is required at other airports
