- Grade XII
- Successful completion of a recognized Medical Device Reprocessing Technician course
- Minimum five (5) years' medical device reprocessing experience in an acute healthcare setting
- Extensive MDR Charge or Team Leader experience required
- Previous experience in management/supervision
- Completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Leadership Program (or successful completion within the first year of employment)
- Medical Terminology
- Certification in medical device reprocessing through the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), or the International Association of Healthcare, Central Service or Materials Management
- Current member of the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Nova Scotia
- Past experience working with OR instrumentation
- WHMIS Certification
- Computer skills
- Surgical Instrument Specialist course preferred
- Leadership development programs an asset
- Demonstrated leadership and teambuilding skills
- Exemplary oral and written communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate and teach skills to large or small groups
- Thorough knowledge in the principles and practices of Professional Standards and departmental and organizational policies and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve during crisis situations to ensure department is able to deliver products
- Competencies on other languages an asset, French preferred
- Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, the Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and direction of the daily operation of the department. The Supervisor provides effective and efficient operation of all medical device reprocessing functions, ensuring quality and patient safety is the focus. Essential components of this position include a high degree of expertise in decision-making, creativity, interpersonal skills, professional development and informational roles to perform a wide variety of technical, human conceptual, leadership and management functions and behaviours.
